What is Salesforce for mobile?

Salesforce for mobile allows users to access the application from mobile devices and handhelds. Users can add and edit contacts, organizations and more. Android, iPhone and iPad devices are supported. Read below to learn more.

MDM Policy Requirement The MobileIron Mobile@WorkTM Client is an app available for mobile devices that provides added encryption and security for the information stored on your device. All devices must have the MDM (Mobile@Work) app installed and encrypted before one can access Salesforce information from their device. Users must sign Salesforce Acceptable User Policy before using the Salesforce application. Please sign the Acceptable User Policy if you haven't done so already and then please e-mail it to msb-appsupport@georgetown.edu

Supported Devices and Operating Systems Requires Android 2.2.x through 4.3 Supported Devices: iPhone® 4 and later models running iOS 7 or later. Supported Devices: iPad® 2 and later models (including the iPad mini) running iOS 7 or later.

Supported Devices: Android phones with Android 4.2 or later.

Important Considerations
MDM (Mobile@Work) installation is mandatory for all Salesforce apps. For Salesforce classic: Attachments associated with contacts and organizations will not be available. You can only be logged in to Salesforce Mobile from one device (Android, iPhone, or iPad. We currently do not support Windows Mobile and Blackberry).

Salesforce Installation


Device Requirements

This app requires Android 2.2.x through 4.3.

Installation Instructions
  1. Click on MobileIron app and then click Google Play apps.
  2. Click on the Salesforce Classic app and it will take you to Google Play Store.
  3. On the Salesforce Classic Play Store page and click Install to install the Salesforce app on your device.
  4. Before Login to the app on android please check on your salesforce full site (on laptop/desktop) if the "Salesforce Classic User" box is cheked. If it is not cheked then please go to your personal information page -> User details page-> Edit-> Check the "Salesforce Classic User" box then Hit Save.

Apps Features

The Salesforce mobile app allows users to create and edit the contacts and organizations available from their standard web account. Users can edit current contact's information, update contact's email and phone number preferances, send emails and make phone calls directly from app. This app currently does not allow access to Salesforce campaign information.

*Note: Only one device can be logged into Salesforce Touch at a time.

Important Considerations
  1. The only way to change your passcode is to "deactivate and clear all data", then reactivate your account.
  2. Please lock the app when it is not in use.

  3. You will not be able to delete records from your Salesforce Mobile account.
  4. After Android MDM Installation and Encryption enabled the phone basic settings may be reset (For example Device Sound and other settings).
  5. The app may be slow to open because it downloads the data each time the app is opened.

Device Requirements

This app is compatible with iPhoneģ 4 and later models running iOS 7 or later.

Installation Instructions
  1. From the Home screen of your iPhone, select the GU App Store icon.
  2. Click on the Salesforce1 icon within the app.
  3. Enter your iTunes Store Account and password and tap OK to install. 

(You need an iTunes™ Store account to download applications. If you don't already have an iTunes Store account, open iTunes on your computer and select Store > Account to set one up.)

Logging in to Salesforce1

  1. Tap the Salesforce1 icon on the Home screen.
  2. On the login screen, enter your Salesforce username and password.
  3. The system asks user to set up a pin number to protect the application.
  4. Tap Allow when the permission box pops up.
